Meadowglen Homeowners Association

The Board is currently short 1 position and the ARC is missing a couple as well. These positions are a great way to give back to your community.

The level of effort for the Board position is typically a handful of emails a month and participation at the monthly board meeting (approx 2 hours). The level of effort for the ARC is reviewing a few DRRs a month and talking about them at the monthly meeting (approx 1 hour). These estimates vary month to month (especially for the ARC during the spring walkthrough), but overall it’s not a huge commitment and is very rewarding.

Save the date! Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 18, 2020. That will be the day of our annual Meadowglen community clean-up. We’ll meet at 9:00 at the clubhouse, spend some time gathering litter from our common areas, and then get back together for tasty treats. All are welcome! More details next month.

Join us tomorrow night, Friday February 7 from 6 to 8:30PM, for our first teen night at the Meadowglen clubhouse.  Send your teens ages 12, 13, 14 or 15 only for games, pizza, snacks and a movie!

We are very excited to provide something fun for this age group in the neighborhood. Kids are welcome to bring a friend and there is no need to RSVP.

Christmas and New Year’s Day Delay(s):

• During a holiday week, trash and recycle service will be delayed by one day for all collection days that fall on or after the holiday.  Normal schedule will resume the following week.  

• Christmas Day and New Year’s Day both fall on a Wednesday. There will be a one-day delay during the Christmas and New Year’s weeks for all HOA’s normally collected on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. All HOA’s that are collected Monday and Tuesday will be collected as normal.

• Waste Management Observes the following holidays. New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Service/Weather Delay:

• If your individual cart/address is missed on your regular collection day, please call (303) 797-1600 to report the missed pickup. We typically return within 24-48 hours so be sure to put your cart out the following business days from 7am to 7pm for service. 

• In the event we are unable to service the community on the regular service day, such as with a weather delay, it is our goal to recover as soon as possible weather & safety permitting, often we are able to return within a few days.  Please be sure to continue to put carts out the following days from 7am to 7pm until our return. Residents may call (303) 797-1600 with any questions regarding the collection schedule.

• If you would like to add contact information (landline phone number and/or email address)  so resident’s will receive a notification of the delay via our automated system, residents may add their contact information by calling Customer Service at (303) 797-1600. Having contact information on file will ensure that delay information is communicated in a timely manner.

• In the event of a delay,  the HOA Support Team, FCHOA, also sends an email notification to the HOA Contact on file as soon as we learn of the delay.

Toward the end of summer there were some concerns about the decreasing water level in Pomona Lake. A group of concerned homeowners and some Board members hosted some people from the City of Arvada Parks and Open Spaces Department to discuss the water levels. We learned that the State of Colorado regulates when each body is in priority based on historic legal water rights. This spring there was a miscommunication at the City on when the inlet valve should have been opened, which started a series of events leading to the dropping water levels. Then, the lake goes out of priority near June 1 and thus the inlet closed. In combination with a really dry summer, the levels dropped to a concerning low. The miscommunication has been addressed at the City and they will ensure that doesn’t happen in the future, but a summer drought is unfortunately uncontrollable.

We wanted to let everyone know that as of last week, Pomona Lake is back in priority and the timing couldn’t be better. With the October snow storms, this past weekend Little Dry Creek was neither little nor dry, and the lake has risen 8 inches back to it’s nominal levels!

The Meadowglen Beautification Committee has taken on a project of investigating possibilities to make our lake more appealing to the eye and more attractive to wildlife. The committee is made up of 6 dedicated residents. If successful, there may be a possibility of more community involvement in the future. We’ll let you know what we discover!

On Friday the 25th the neighborhood came together for a hallowing good time. This year we shook things up to provide more space inside for all to have room to party. We added a campfire and S’mores outside in the parking lot. This was a great way to keep an eye on the children playing on the playground and stay warm. Having the fire also provided a place for people to go if it did get crowded inside. We added apple bobbing! This brought back childhood memories for the adults and had our children making new ones. Inside this year we moved the furniture around to maximize the space. This left room for the games we had like: bones-ket ball, toss a spider into the web, and our photo station. We also added times and activities for each school age group which included crafts for our preschool and slime for elementary. Overall, neighbors had excellent feed back to our changes. We look forward to next year when we will add a haunted house under the club house. A special shout out to Linzi King and Natalie Ohlsen for all their planning and creativity.  A giant thank you to everyone else who helped make this event a big success!

Just a friendly reminder that we have our Annual Meeting tonight 10/10/2019 at 6 pm at the clubhouse. Please join us to hear about updates from 2019 and what we have planned for 2020. Furthermore, we are electing 2 officers and have 1 open spot on the board. If you would like to give back to your community, this is a great way to pitch in and make a positive impact.
