Bulk Item Drop Off and Yard Waste Disposal Events through the City of Arvada/Republic Services

As part of the City of Arvada’s single hauler system through Republic Services, HOA residents will be charged 88 cents per month on their water/sewer bill (billed every two months) beginning in September. This fee allows HOA residents (who are otherwise not part of the single-hauler system) to participate in bulk item and yard waste drop off events at no additional cost.

Saturdays Nov. 6, Nov. 13 and Nov. 20 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Change to Waste Management Trash & Recycling Services: What you need to know

As we reported last month, the Board has opted to continue contracting its waste & recycling services through Waste Management. Although rising slightly, the prices remain far lower than the City’s single hauler system through Republic Services. Additionally, WM has done a good job in our community.

While most currently offered WM services will remain the same, there is one important change for homeowners to be aware of:

For safety and efficiency purposes, Waste Management is changing to a fully-automated system, which means their trucks will do all the lifting and disposing. Beginning with the first trash pickup date in June, Thursday, June 3, ALL trash must be contained within the WM provided trash bin. NO additional trash cans or bags of waste will be accepted.

Residents may order an additional trash bin through WM at the cost of $5 a month. This will need to be arranged by the resident directly with WM by calling customer service at 303-797-1600. The additional cart will be billed directly to the resident.

As previously offered, Bulk Item pick up is also available to residents, and the resident will be billed directly for the service at the time of request.

Lifeguards Wanted!

Absolute Pool Management is looking for lifeguards to join our seasonal team! The season begins Memorial Day weekend and ends on Labor Day, with a few additional weekends in May for orientation and training. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, hardworking, have integrity, and have good communication skills. Payrates start at $15-16.25 an hour and increase based on experience, position, etc.  Please note, that you are not guaranteed to work in your HOA neighborhood but always in the general area.

We certify our lifeguards using the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course. Lifeguard training dates are currently TBD, but we accept all major certifications (i.e., Red Cross, Ellis, etc.) 

Prerequisites! All Candidates must:

  1. Be at least 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course.
  2. Swim 300 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
  3. Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
  4. Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:
  1. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed.
  2. Surface dive, feet-first or headfirst, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
  3. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath.
  4. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

2021 Pool Season

The pool season officially starts on 5/29! With Jefferson County in the Clear Level as of May 15, we are back to 100% capacity. Because of COVID there is a national lifeguard shortage and APM requested that we continue to use a reservation system to help stabilize the patron/lifeguard ratio. So, we will continue to do that with 2 hour blocks, reservations may be made up to 1 week in advance. Guests are allowed and you may book back-to-back slots. The statewide mask order does not require masks outside, but you may wear one if that makes you feel comfortable. Lifeguards and the Meadowglen Swim Team are back! 

We did have a major plumbing break in the clubhouse basement during the winter/spring snowstorms. Due to the clubhouse not being utilized, extensive damage to the basement bathrooms occurred and will need to be renovated. This means that for the time being, the bathrooms are closed and port-o-lets will be available in the parking lot. This is obviously not desirable for anyone, but until the renovation happens this summer it will be the only option at the clubhouse. We are working with a contractor and our insurance to get this taken care of as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience .

Capacity: Pool area is limited to 100 people
Guests: 2 guests/Meadowglen resident may accompany the resident at the pool

Rules:

  • If you feel sick or have any COVID-19 related symptoms, please do not come to our common areas.
  • Per CDPHE, Masks are optional in outdoor settings
  • Spray bottles with disinfectant will be available at the door to spray down areas before and after use.
  • No Smoking or Vaping inside pool area or within 50 ft of pool fence
  • No running
  • No profanity
  • No pets in the pool area
  • No horseplay, throwing, “playing chicken”, launching, or pushing of persons
  • No glass containers allowed in the pool area
  • No plugged in electrical equipment allowed inside the pool area
  • No pool toys allowed that could cause bodily injury. This includes rocks, coins and other hard objects
  • No bicycles, tricycles, skateboards, roller skate, scooters or other recreational equipment in pool area
  • No offensive tattoos, symbols or language will be permitted  


Ralston House Pinwheel Garden Success!

Our very generous Meadowglen neighborhood was able to raise $700 for Ralston House this spring. And in spite of snow, rain, and lots of wind, the pinwheels have mostly survived and remain spinning! They are tough and resilient just like these kids and teens – a visible sign of hope and healing, something needed by all of us. Well done and thank you very much for your support.

Advance HOA Website and Payment Instructions

We have officially switched over to Advance HOA! In the mailer that was sent out mid-April were instructions on how to create your login, setup payment information, and setup recurring payments. If you’ve misplaced them, they are attached to this page.

Correction to “New Management Article in Meadowgram”

In the following article we stated that “No action is required on your part”, however the original intent on that statement was that no action is required to transfer your information or records to Advance HOA. Homeowners will however need to setup an online account and setup your payment information with Advance HOA, per their mailing.

New Management Company – Starting 5/1/21

As you may have heard, after 41 years the Meadowglen Board has chosen to leave Management Specialists Inc.  Starting May 1, Meadowglen will be managed by Advanced HOA. MSI and Advanced HOA have already been working hard to transfer your information, records, prepaid assessments, etc. No action is required on your part. You should soon start seeing communications from Advanced HOA regarding the change. Around mid-April you will receive a welcome letter, payment instructions, and contact info sheets. We think you will be impressed with Advanced HOA and look forward to your feedback. Swim Team Plans for Summer 2021

For 43 years, Meadowglen Swim Team has called our Meadowglen Pool its home. Hundreds and hundreds of Meadowglen kids have swam and created a community amongst the team, last year and this year have created unprecedented challenges to our normal operations (as it has all our lives).

The Meadowglen Swim Team and the Meadowglen HOA Board have worked together to create a plan for the upcoming swim season that keeps swimmers safe, residents safe and provides a much needed opportunity for our kids to be in the water! Unfortunately, the safety plan does include new limitations on overall team size and swimmer age that we have not had in previous years (and hope to not have again!) 😊

Few changes for THIS YEAR:

  • We are only accepting NEW swimmers that are Meadowglen Residents
  • Swimmers must be 7 years old or older (usually 5 years old)
  • Home meets will be held at Meyers Pool (usually at Meadowglen pool on Saturdays)
  • Earlier weekday practice times (to allow for extra cleaning after we practice)
  • Registration is open now and will end APRIL 30th

2021 Spring Fling Recap

Spring has finally arrived and the Board was excited to resume the Annual Meadowglen Spring Fling on Saturday March 27th. Twenty plus families came and enjoyed a social-distanced party with an Easter egg hunt, a guest appearance from the Easter Bunny, a bubble play area, and photobooth.

Ann DeMers hosted a stall to support the annual Ralston House fundraiser.  Ralston House provides advocacy, support and investigative services for children who have been the victims of abuse. Residents purchased pinwheels, which are now on display in front of the clubhouse, and the social committee donated $100 to this worthwhile organization.

Thank you to Shelley Andreassend for leading this event and filling over 600 Easter eggs with me, Dave Morrison for his furry contribution, and Brittany Heckenberg of the Heckenberg Group for donating the prizes for the 6 lucky golden eggs.

Annual Meadowglen Cleanup 4/17/21

April 17 will be the date for our Annual Meadowglen Clean-Up! It’s a
Saturday and we’ll meet at nine o’clock or so at the clubhouse parking lot.
All are welcome to come and help pick up litter from our subdivision’s
common areas. We also clean along our adopted Little Dry Creek Trail.

We’ve been getting together for this cleaning for many years now, always
around Earth Day. Last year we needed to skip because of COVID
restrictions, so it feels good to be setting this date again. In case of
too much snow or rain, we’ll meet April 24 instead. More information to
follow.
